George Brandon

VICE PRESIDENT

George Brandon has more than 25 years of experience in the legal services industry, and his work has included hiring, managing, and business development for some of the largest international law firms in the world.

George worked for 12 years as the Chief Operating Officer of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) in London, a 12,000-member organization for public finance professionals. Denton Hall, which provided legal services to CIPFA at the time, later hired George to manage onboarding in a merger that created the largest litigation team in the U.K. In this role, he contributed to the substantial growth of the litigation department’s book of business over the course of two years and was offered the position of Marketing Director for the firm. George relocated to Los Angeles in 1997 and was hired by one of Denton Hall’s clients, Elite Information Systems, as Director of Practice Management Consulting & Product Management. In this capacity, George provided consulting services to more than 150 law firms.

In 2007 George became the Partnership Development Leader of West Coast law firm Morris Polich & Purdy (MPP). Over the next eight years, he reported directly to the firm’s managing partner and was responsible for managing the firm’s growth, including the hiring, onboarding, and coaching of lateral partners, associates, and paralegals. He was also involved in attorney reviews, providing valuable information to the firm’s leaders regarding each lawyer’s business development efforts and successes.

Am Law 200 firm Clark Hill acquired MPP in 2015, and George was elevated to Business Unit Director for three of the firm’s practice areas. He was responsible for all aspects of the business within these units, including strategic planning, recruitment, succession planning, business development, and financial management. He negotiated compensation and helped recruit lawyers ranging from associates to partners with six-figure books of business. He also served as International Director for the firm, which employed 800 attorneys in 26 offices.

George is a Fellow of both the College of Law Practice Management and the Institute of Administrative Management. He is also a qualified member of the Chartered Management Institute and the British Institute of Facilities Management. He served on the Technology Committee of the California State Bar Association for three years and was named California’s Law Firm Development Specialist of the Year in 2019 by the Corporate International Global Awards.

His passion for helping attorneys and law firms succeed in rapidly changing times led George to accept a position as Vice President of Rainmaking For Lawyers in 2021.
